Lewis & Clark Visitors Center

Alton, Illinois. (Across from St. Louis) At Journey's Edge, signature film for the Lewis & Clark Visitors Center, immerses visitors in the chapter of the Lewis & Clark story which took place at Camp Dubois, Illinois, point of departure for the journey into the unknown waters of the Missouri River. This 12-minute high-definition film takes visitors up to and across the threshold of the Corps' fantastic adventure and the intense feelings of anticipation, awe, fear, and excitement that members of the Corp must have experienced as they imagined the journey ahead. In the exhibit gallery, ambient audio programs will provide a subtle backdrop for gallery exhibits, and an audio collage of different voices will reveal the dramatic range of ideas that existed about what the expedition might encounter and what they might accomplish.
